KARACHI: In Friday’s third game of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 at the National Bank Stadium, Afghanistan lost to South Africa by 107 runs, despite Rahmat Shah’s aggressive 90-run effort.
Aiden Markram’s scorching half-century and opener batsman Ryan Rickelton’s quick century earlier propelled South Africa to an overwhelming 315 against Afghanistan.
Rickelton’s first ODI century and the half-centuries of three South African batsmen, Markram, Rassie van der Dussen, and captain Temba Bavuma, helped Proteas reach 315/6 in the allocated overs.
With just 28 runs scored, Mohammad Nabi got rid of Tony de Zorzi (11) on the first delivery of the sixth over, giving South Africa an unwelcome start to the game.
