In their opening encounter of the ICC Champions Trophy, which took place at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday, India defeated Bangladesh by six wickets after successfully chasing a modest target of 229 runs thanks to Shubman Gill’s century.
With a 69-run partnership between captain Rohit Sharma and Gill, which ended with the former’s removal on the final delivery of the batting powerplay, India got off to a respectable start in the chase.
Sharma used seven boundaries to score 41 off 36 deliveries.
Virat Kohli, who scored 22 off 38 deliveries, then joined Gill in a 43-run partnership for the second wicket.
