Karachi: In a friendly match on Saturday, Mehak Maqbool, a chess prodigy, defeated Sindh top minister Murad Ali Shah by checkmating the provincial top executive in just 15 moves.
Mehak, the Under-18 national junior chess champion, was invited to the match by the CM to acknowledge her accomplishment.
Mehak, who attends SMB Fatima Jinnah School, which is run by Shehzad Roy’s Zindagi Trust, recently won the Under-18 championship and became the junior chess champion of Pakistan.
The initiative was praised by philanthropist Roy, who said that by inviting Mehak to the match, CM Shah, who has been a member of the International Chess Federation since 1992, delivered a powerful statement.
