Mehak Maqbool, the Under-18 Chess Champion of Pakistan, will be the opponent Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah faces in the final contest of cunning.
The Chess Federation of Pakistan (CFP) and Karpov Chess Club (KCC) organized the National Youth Chess Championship (NYCC) 2025, which Mehak, a student from SMB Fatima Jinnah Government School, won on Sunday.
In a friendly encounter at CM House on Saturday, the Karachi chess prodigy, who is full of promise to become Pakistan’s youngest grandmaster, will test her strategic abilities against Shah, a die-hard fan of the board game.
Young talent like her has been developed at Mehak’s school, a Sindh government establishment that Zindagi Trust has embraced.
