Elijah Blue Allman, Cher’s son, has not been granted temporary conservatorship.
The 77-year-old singer’s ex parte motion, which requested that Elijah be placed under a temporary “emergency” conservatorship, was denied by a judge in the Los Angeles court on Monday.
Cher’s petition on the basis that her son was “substantially unable to manage his financial resources” dealt the blow.
The primary reason given was their “tumultuous relationship marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises,” which led her to reject his estranged wife Mariangela as a possible conservator.
The 47-year-old conservatee, however, has demonstrated that “he can manage his finances, has an apartment, and also submitted several negative drug tests,” therefore the current ruling rejected her requested injunction.
In addition, the judge declared that the reasons were mostly grounded in “fears and hypotheticals” and that there was not “sufficient evidence” to support the temporary conservatorship.
That does not, by itself, provide the court with the right to establish a probate conservatorship. As of right now, I have not seen enough evidence to award a temporary, emergency conservatorship,” the judge decided.
