ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China have fiercely denied India’s charges about the seizure of a dual-use cargo with repercussions for Islamabad’s nuclear and ballistic missile programmes, The News reported on Sunday.
“These reports illustrate the Indian media’s frequent distortion of facts. “This is a simple case of a Karachi-based commercial entity importing a commercial lathe machine to supply parts to Pakistan’s automobile industry,” Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said in response to a question about the reports.
Highlighting that relevant private organizations are pursuing the matter against the wrongful seizure, the spokesperson further emphasized that the specifications of the equipment plainly indicate its solely commercial usage and that the transaction was being conducted through transparent banking channels with all relevant documentation. Her comments come after Indian media, citing officials, reported that New Delhi’s security agencies intercepted and seized a Karachi-bound ship from China after it was discovered to be carrying a dual-use consignment with implications for Pakistan’s nuclear and ballistic missile programmes.
