As the nation attempts to revive its faltering economy, the Chinese government has extended the list of commodities that citizens can exchange for new ones in order to receive discounts of up to 20%.
Water purifiers, rice cookers, dishwashers, and microwave ovens are now on the list.
Electric and hybrid cars, as well as phones, tablets, smart watches, and televisions, were already covered by state-sponsored trade-in programs.
The second-biggest economy in the world has been dealing with a number of issues, such as a deteriorating real estate market and low consumer demand.
Officials announced on Wednesday that 81 billion yuan (£8.9 billion; $11 billion) had been set aside for the consumer goods trade-in program this year.
The plans were introduced in March, and according to China’s top economic planning body, they have already had “visible effects.”
