It is alleged that the Chinese government made two or three attempts to hack MoD personnel.
The hack targeted a payroll system that both active and retired service members used. Mostly, bank account information and names have been made public.
This month, all salaries will be paid.
China “was probably looking at the financially vulnerable with a view that they may be coerced in exchange for something,” Tobias Ellwood, a Conservative MP and former soldier told News.
