The launch ceremony of the first Hangor-class submarine that China has manufactured for the Pakistan Navy took place on Friday, marking a significant milestone for Pakistan’s military forces.
Taking place at the Shuangliu Base of Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group (WSIG), Admiral Naveed Ashraf, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), was present during the ceremony.
This development is part of the arrangement Beijing made with Islamabad, whereby Beijing promised to give the former eight cutting-edge, highly developed submarines.
Four of the eight boats will be constructed by WSIG, while the other four will be manufactured at KS&EW in accordance with the terms of the Transfer of Technology (ToT) agreement.
The submarines will be outfitted with cutting-edge weapons and sensors to function under cover thanks to their sophisticated stealth features.
