Chris Godwin was taken off the field with 43 seconds remaining after sustaining a horrific ankle injury that the network declined to replay, while star receiver Mike Evans exited the game early after worsening a hamstring ailment.
According to Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles, Godwin had a dislocated ankle, and the typical recovery period for such an injury would require him to miss the remainder of the season.
Godwin was found in the middle of the field by quarterback Baker Mayfield, and the receiver turned it in garbage time for the Buccaneers, who were down 41-31 and facing a third-and-17.
However, Patrick Queen, a linebacker for the Ravens, rolled on Godwin’s leg while doing so, and it was evident that his left leg was not going in the proper direction.
Trainers and teammates rushed to Godwin, who was clearly in pain, to provide support. On the field, he was put in an air cast and taken away.
