The Arabian Sea island of Churna is situated around 6.8 kilometers northwest of Mubarak Village. The news announcement stated that Astola Island was designated as the first MPA by the province administration in June 2017.
The non-governmental organization praised Chief Conservator Wildlife Sharifuddin Baloch and Secretary Forest and Wildlife Department Dostain Jamaldini for their contributions to the process and acknowledged the efforts made by the Balochistan government to obtain this distinction.
Similar to Astola Island, Churna Island is one of the few marine regions in Pakistan with coral habitats and is referred to as a hotspot for biodiversity.
But Churna Island, which is close to Karachi, is a popular destination for recreational activities including jet skiing, cliff jumping, snorkeling, and scuba diving.
