ISLAMABAD: According to The News, Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi, the chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), has proposed to the government that judges be appointed to decide blasphemy cases exclusively and as quickly as feasible.
Speaking at a seminar in conjunction with the “Day Against Islamophobia,” the chairman of the CII stated that the council has previously made suggestions about blasphemy cases that ought to be followed.
He also recommended that the government create a counter-blasphemy department modeled after the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in order to take prompt action against people who perpetrate blasphemy on websites and social media.
According to Dr. Naeemi, the goal of commemorating the Day Against Islamophobia is to dispel misconceptions about Islam.
