LAHORE: The Punjab chief secretary has been contacted by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa to request an explanation about the unauthorized construction of guard rooms in government executives’ residences in Lahore and the needless usage of public funds.
In a letter to the chief secretary, the Supreme Court registrar expressed concerns about needless spending near the homes of public officials.
According to the registrar, the chief justice heard cases at the Supreme Court Registry in Lahore from April 15 to April 19. During this time, he remained at the Chief Justice Rest House in the Government Officers Residence (GOR).
According to the letter, CJP Isa saw that unauthorized guard rooms had been set up in the open and that renovations were being done to government officers’ homes while they were there.
He declared that the guard needed to be on that residence’s property.
The letter questioned if painting the walls of government mansions with public resources was a justified use of resources. In the letter, the CJP questioned, “Why is the previous fencing example abandoned? Your response will be awaited.”
He gave the go-ahead to establish guidelines and standards pertaining to the design and building of government housing.
