According to Sky News, Abdul Shokoor Ezedi was released from probation monitoring in 2020 after receiving a suspended sentence for a sexual offense in Newcastle in 2018.
It is thought that on Wednesday night in Clapham, south London, Abdul Shokoor Ezedi used an alkaline substance to target a woman and her two children.
According to information obtained by Sky News, Ezedi was released from probation monitoring in 2020 after receiving a suspended sentence for a sexual offense in Newcastle in 2018.
The most recent development follows the release of a new image by the police of the previous asylum applicant, whose claim was only approved on the third try following his truck arrival in the UK in 2016.
According to Sky News, Ezedi, 35, was granted permission to remain after a priest attested to his conversion to Christianity and stated that he was “wholly committed” to his new faith.
Ezedi has stated that going back to his home country of Afghanistan would put his life in jeopardy.
Superintendent Gabriel Cameron revealed the fresh photo on Thursday night. It was taken at 8:48 p.m. on Wednesday, less than two hours after the assault and is the last confirmed sighting of Ezedi in Caledonian Road, north London.
“The picture appears to depict Ezedi with serious injuries to the right side of his face. This sets him apart,” Supt. Cameron remarked.
“Call 999 right away if you spot Ezedi. It is not appropriate to approach him.”
It is thought that the suspect, who is from Newcastle, traveled to London on the same day that the attack happened close to Clapham Common.
The British Transport Police and Northumbria Police are assisting the Met in their manhunt.
