Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur criticized the federal government’s approach, stating that Afghan Citizen Card holders and “illegal foreigners” living in Pakistan should not be forcibly removed from the nation, weeks after the federal government requested them to depart by March 31.
“The Centre’s policy on Afghan refugees is flawed… The approach taken in the past violated human rights,” the provincial chief executive stated on Sunday at a press conference in Peshawar.
Islamabad has previously accused Afghan citizens, who make up the majority of the nation’s migrant population, of being responsible for militant assaults and crimes.
Pakistan stated that they were initially concentrating on foreigners without legal papers when they began their repatriation campaign of foreign nationals, the most of whom are Afghan, in 2023.
