For the second day in a row, the chief minister chaired a special meeting with representatives from the agriculture department to discuss ways to make Punjab greener. The Punjab Agricultural Research Board and the Punjab Seed Corporation reform plans were reviewed at the conference, along with the possibility of passing legislation prohibiting the use of agricultural land for residential construction.

CM Maryam Nawaz approved the “Nawaz Sharif Kisan Card” during the meeting, which enables small farmers to get loans of Rs. 500,000 on flexible conditions. Per acre payments for seeds, fertilizer, and medications will also be made, along with various forms of agricultural loans and subsidies.
It was also determined that a research and development center at the Agriculture University of Faisalabad will be constructed at a cost of Rs 2 billion, with assistance from the Pakistan-China R&D Center. The genome center, germplasm resource, speed breeding, and climate change research facilities will all be available at the R&D center.
