In a statement, the company stated that Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands were the main targets of the recall. It further stated that only five product lines had already been sold after being sent to Britain.
The Belgium division of Coca-Cola’s global bottling and distribution business reports that the impacted goods include the Coke, Fanta, Sprite, Tropico, and Minute Maid brands.
Chlorine-based disinfectants used in food processing and water treatment can produce chlorate.
A spokeswoman told the news, “Independent expert analysis concludes that any associated risk for consumers is very low.”
There have been no consumer complaints in Great Britain, according to Coca-Cola, which also stated that it has “alerted the authorities on this matter and will continue to collaborate with them.”
