According to the chief of the UK armed forces, Vladimir Putin of Russia does not seek a nuclear conflict or a direct conflict with NATO.
Additionally, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin hinted that Beijing and Moscow do not have the military “proficiency” to repel the kind of missile and drone assault that the US and its allies neutralized in April when Iran tried to attack Israel.
In an interview to commemorate the D-Day landings of World War II’s 80th anniversary, the Chief of the Defense Staff warned against using “loose language” while trying to reassure people that a third world war was not likely to break out. Rather, he claimed that the situation has just gotten “a bit more dangerous”.
However, Admiral Radakin stated that he thought the British people would rise to the occasion if another existential threat like to the one that Nazi Germany previously faced arose.
“Definitely! I believe that our country is proud and committed,” he remarked.
Speaking in front of the historic map that was used to help organize “Operation Overlord,” the codename for the allied invasion of occupied France, the admiral said that he was unable to respond to specific questions about UK defense matters due to the general election campaign.
