A committee headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was constituted on Thursday to ensure the safe return of pilgrims departing from Iran and Iraq, in the wake of several deadly mishaps.
The commission, whose chairman is the Federal Secretary for Religious Affairs, will also look into the possibility of returning pilgrims via sea.
The committee was established in response to growing security concerns over Pakistani pilgrims returning from neighboring nations. The Prime Minister gave his consent, and the Cabinet Division then officially announced the committee’s creation.
The Secretary of Religious Affairs will preside over the group, which will also include the Chief Secretaries of each province and the Secretary of Maritime Affairs as members.
