WASHINGTON: Masood Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, spoke before the US International Trade Commission (ITC) about the garment sector’s comparative advantage, claiming that it is experiencing significant transformation and preparing for robust export development.
Ambassador Khan made these remarks at the ITC’s public hearing on Monday on the export competitiveness of South Asian clothing sectors in the US market, which included Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, and Pakistan.
“Individual companies in Pakistan are adopting advanced traceability technologies to consciously champion supply chain transparency in alignment with global requirements,” he went on to say.
The ambassador stated that under the Net Zero Pakistan program, top garment firms are committed to speeding the transition to sustainability and achieving the Net Zero goal.
The examination is being performed by the ITC at the request of the US trade representative, and the commission must deliver its findings by August 30, 2024.
The ITC research will compare market share among these five providers and analyze changing patterns in market share. The report will also consider significant competitive aspects such as trade, industry structure, price and cost, product differentiation, and reliability.
