The grocery inflation index tracked by Kantar Worldpanel, which keeps tabs on prices, sales, and market share at supermarket checkouts, decreased to 1.7% in August.
It indicates that grocery costs are still rising, albeit more than in the four weeks leading up to early July, and slightly less than the 1.8% increase observed in July—the first increase in over a year.
According to Kantar, 60% of households are still concerned about the rising cost of their groceries despite this decline.
The cost of household energy bills, which are expected to increase starting in October, is the second most financial concern.
