On behalf of SiriusXM, the country music superstar who overcome a difficult past delighted a select few hundred people with a headline performance on Saturday night, live from Stephen Talkhouse in the Hamptons. Jason Bradley DeFord, better known by his stage name Jelly Roll, mixed with the many celebrities who attended his event, such as Jimmy Fallon, Howard Stern, Bradley Cooper, and Jon Hamm.
Before the show, Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes, the hosts of SmartLess, got down to record a live podcast with Howard Stern. They then introduced the “Son of a Sinner” vocalist to the stage.
Jelly Roll said to the crowd, “I never would have thought my fat, white-trash a– would be in the Hamptons,” according to Page Six. “This is an incredible scene.”
When thinking of the Bette Midler song that his mother allegedly played at her funeral, Jimmy Roll cries.
After screaming out a few of cover songs, including “Good Riddance,” “Friends in Low Places,” and “(Sittin’ On) the Dock of the Bay,” he played a few of his hits, including “I’m not OK” and “Need a Favor.”
Jelly Roll offered Howard Stern and his wife, Beth Stern, a special shout-out after spotting them in the audience during the broadcast.
One of the best experiences of his life, according to him, was appearing on Stern’s show.
