The band, which had changed their name to NJZ and started planning their own shows, was ordered by the court to refrain from engaging in any independent endeavors, including recording music or negotiating advertising contracts.
After accusing Ador of maltreatment earlier in the year, NewJeans announced their departure. After accusing the group of attempting to negotiate independent deals without its consent, Ador filed a lawsuit to get NewJeans’ contracts upheld and, in January, requested an injunction against them.
The group has stated that they would contest the ruling made on Friday.
The court’s decision raises some questions regarding the group’s planned Sunday release of their new single.
It also implies that they will now have trouble making a comeback under their new moniker, NJZ, without incurring heavy fines for contract violations.
