For a period of two years, the renowned Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram will serve as Cricket Australia’s Multicultural Ambassador.
54 people who are members of the Indian, Sri Lankan, Pakistani, indigenous Australian, Bangladeshi, Nepali, and Afghani communities are listed as ambassadors by Cricket Australia. The action attempts to promote inclusivity and encourage good changes in the community at large as well as in the sport.
The list includes a number of former and current players, including Usman Khawaja, Mel Jones, Ravi Shastri, Lisa Sthalekar, Kishwar Chowdhury, Alana King, Peter Varghese, Swati Dave, and Fawad Ahmed.
“We are ecstatic to have as Multicultural Ambassadors such a vibrant and varied group. Their combined passion, knowledge, and leadership will be crucial in creating a more welcoming cricket community and bringing about significant change,” stated.
