Staff members stood outside certain stores on Saturday morning informing customers that they could only make cash payments, while the supermarket announced that it could not fulfill the “vast majority” of online orders.
In addition, Tesco canceled a few online orders while the two supermarkets reported technological issues.
Sainsbury’s sent the following update this afternoon: “We can confirm that contactless payments, along with all other modes of payment, are now again operational in all of our stores.
“Our Groceries Online ordering system is working as normal and customers can place an order for delivery anytime from tomorrow.”
