On June 30, Daniel Halliday was having fun with his older brother and several friends when the current carried him away, according to a statement from Merseyside Police at the time.
According to the force, he broke away from the group close to the radar tower off Crosby Beach, Waterloo.
Next day, the search was discontinued.
The coast guard discovered a body off the coast of New Brighton on Monday night, according to Merseyside Police.
It stated: “Although the body has not yet been formally identified, officers remain in contact with the family of Daniel Halliday, 14, who went missing at Crosby beach on Sunday 30 June.”
After Daniel vanished, his family released a statement expressing their “worst fear—that this tragic accident has taken our lovely boy from us.”
They went on, saying, “Daniel was trying to save himself by jumping waves with his older brother, but the current was too powerful.”
“Daniel is a devoted grandchild, cousin, nephew, brother, and son.
“Our family is inconsolable, and we sincerely hope that we would be granted privacy during this difficult time. I’m grateful.
