ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has reiterated that dialogue, diplomacy, and mutual cooperation remain Pakistan’s most reliable tools for ensuring peace, stability, and development.
Speaking at the second day of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), Dar highlighted that “Dialogue has always been our preferred path to stability and progress,” stressing that nations prosper through understanding, not confrontation.
Dar said that the participation of global parliamentarians in the conference reflects a shared belief in cooperation as the foundation of peace and progress. He emphasized that modern diplomacy goes beyond ministries, drawing strength from public awareness and active parliamentary engagement, which connects governments with the people’s aspirations.
He noted that parliamentary diplomacy complements traditional diplomacy, ensuring that international dialogue represents the voices of citizens and contributes to global problem-solving.
Commending parliamentarians, Dar said they play a vital role in turning international commitments into national policies, simplifying laws, and fostering innovation for inclusive growth. He added that through regional connectivity, trade facilitation, and investment partnerships, countries can achieve shared prosperity.
Reflecting on global instability, Dar pointed out that the world is facing geopolitical rivalries, climate challenges, terrorism, and inequality. He urged that forums like the ISC are essential to revitalizing multilateralism through openness and inclusive participation.

“Peace drives growth, development sustains peace, and security strengthens progress.”
He called for accountable and inclusive institutions to ensure that the benefits of peace and prosperity reach everyone.
Condemning the recent terror attacks in Wana and Islamabad, which claimed 15 lives, Dar said Pakistan remains steadfast against all forms of terrorism and that “dialogue, understanding, and partnership are the only sustainable paths to peace.”
Dar reaffirmed that Pakistan’s foreign policy aligns with the UN Charter, promoting sovereign equality, peaceful dispute resolution, and non-interference. He credited Pakistan’s ongoing advocacy for regional cooperation, conflict prevention, and equitable development as key pillars of its diplomatic vision.
Recognizing the leadership of Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani for convening the ISC, Dar said the conference marked another milestone in Pakistan’s journey of promoting peace through multilateral engagement.
He recalled Pakistan’s UN Security Council presidency in July 2025, where the country successfully led a Pakistan-sponsored resolution promoting peaceful dispute resolution—a testament to Pakistan’s role as a bridge between the Global South and the Global North.
“We believe cooperation must replace competition, and fair partnerships, not hierarchies, should shape the future global order,” Dar stated.
Concluding his address, the Deputy Prime Minister urged all participants to renew their commitment to dialogue, justice, and cooperation, adding:
“Pakistan will continue to act as a bridge-builder—connecting regions, amplifying developing nations’ voices, and promoting peace through diplomacy.”
He said the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference represents the essence of people-centered diplomacy—rooted in representation, strengthened by accountability, and guided by empathy—paving the way for a fairer, safer, and more prosperous world.
