ISLAMABAD A joint investigation team has determined that the personal data of 2.7 million Pakistanis was stolen from the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) database, which is a startling revelation and a severe data breach, News said on Tuesday, citing sources.
The data theft occurred between 2019 and 2023, according to the JIT’s report that was delivered to the Ministry of Interior, which exposed the scam.
The JIT was led by Syed Waqaruddin, an official of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and included members nominated by Nadra as well as officials of other agencies.
The sources claim that the body has finished looking into the huge controversy surrounding an alleged breach of Nadra’s database, and that the relevant ministry authorities are going over the contents of the report that was put together by the panel.
According to the sources, the JIT report has determined that the data theft occurred from the Nadra offices in Peshawar, Karachi, and Multan.
Additionally, it has suggested taking legal action against the senior authority officials whose carelessness allowed for this significant data theft.
According to the sources, the stolen material was reportedly transferred from Multan to Peshawar before arriving in Dubai.
