MULTAN: Rescue officials report that a gas-filled tanker burst at the Industrial Estate in the Hamid Pur Kanora neighborhood of Multan, killing six people and injuring 33 more.
The LPG tanker exploded in the early hours of Monday, starting a huge fire. Debris from the wrecked vehicle fell on neighboring residential neighborhoods, inflicting extensive damage.
After hours of work involving more than 10 firefighting vehicles and foam-based fire suppression, rescue personnel reported that the fire was put out.
According to initial reports, the devastating explosion claimed the lives of five persons. However, after rescuers found another body in a residence damaged by the explosion, the number of fatalities increased to six.
