In response to Bruce Willis’s diagnosis, Demi Moore shared a heartfelt message with those who are experiencing dementia.
The 61-year-old actress discussed her relationship with the Die Hard star in an interview with Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM program Radio Andy.
“What advice would you give to those who are out there and have loved ones suffering from dementia? Who might be in their life or providing for them? Demi was asked by Andy.
“I believe that simply meeting people where they are at is the most crucial advice I could give. She answered, “You can really stay in the present when you let go of who they’ve been, who you think they [should be], or even who you would like them to be.”
Her remarks follow Bruce’s March 2020 diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia, which also resulted in aphasia—a brain-mediated impairment that prevents one from speaking or understanding speech.
The Indecent Proposal actress celebrated his birthday on Instagram after his condition was made public. “Bruce, happy birthday! She wrote, “Happy for our blended family,” as the photo’s description.
The pair divorced in 2000 after being wed from 1987 to 1998.
