The following three spicy Samyang instant ramen flavors are being discontinued: Buldak Two times spicy and hot chicken, three times spicy and hot chicken, and hot chicken stew.
On Tuesday, Denmark’s food administration issued a recall notice and a warning, advising consumers to cease using the product.
However, the food’s creator, Samyang, claims there are no issues with its quality.
The company sent a statement to the news saying, “We understand that the Danish food authority recalled the products, not because there was a problem in their quality, but rather because they were too spicy.”
The goods are exported all over the world. However, this is the first time the aforementioned reason has led to their recall.”
It’s unclear if any particular events in Denmark had motivated Danish officials to respond.
According to the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, the amounts of capsaicin in a single packet were judged to be “so high that they pose a risk of the consumer developing acute poisoning”.
“If you have the products, you should discard them or return them to the store where they were purchased,” the statement read.
It also emphasized the need for caution when serving excessively hot food to young children.
