After commuters endured hours-long traffic jams due to a protest call by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) against the recent arrest of the group’s leadership in Quetta, traffic was finally restored on Monday evening on the roads surrounding the Shaheen Complex, the Karachi Press Club (KPC), and other nearby localities.
In response to an anticipated BYC protest, all traffic was prohibited from using the roads surrounding the KPC on Monday.
In addition, authorities in the port city prohibited all public meetings and enforced Section 144.
During a police raid on their protest camp in Quetta on Saturday, BYC leader Dr. Mahrang Baloch and 17 other people were arrested.
