KURRAM: Despite reports of a ceasefire agreement being reached a day ago in District Kurram, fighting between warring tribes entered its eighth day on Thursday, with 107 people killed overall.
According to police, the new engagement resulted in five further fatalities and nine injuries.
The conflicting tribes agreed to a fresh 10-day ceasefire one day prior to this development.
“A 10-day ceasefire between the warring parties in Kurram has come into effect as of today,” the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister’s office in Kurram said in a statement.
The district’s intercommunal conflict has claimed the lives of at least 107 individuals, including 52 who were killed in the November 21 fire on a truck.
