After a terrible debate performance against challenger Donald Trump last month, the 81-year-old’s appearances at the Washington event were viewed as crucial to his chances of winning.
But in his final remarks of the three-day conference, he called Volodymyr Zelenskyy “President Putin” in error.
Mr. Biden addressed Mr. Zelenskyy and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, President Putin,” then corrected himself.
As it occurred: review Biden’s NATO gaffes.
“President Putin? President Zelenskyy, President Putin, I’m going to defeat you. “Beating Putin is my main goal,” he continued.
To make matters worse, he mispronounced Kamala Harris’s name, and Trump’s just a short while later when fielding questions from the media.
“I wouldn’t have picked Vice President Trump to be vice president if she wasn’t qualified to be president,” he responded when asked whether he had any concerns about his vice president’s capacity to assume the top post.
