Defense Minister Khawaja Asif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan were spotted grinning and laughing together in a Parliamentary corridor in a rare display of politeness amid rising political tensions.
Journalists were drawn to their friendly greeting and chat, and one of them questioned, “Why isn’t there unity for the sake of the country as well?”
The idea that even pleasantries in the hallway should be forbidden was rejected by both leaders. “You’re saying that we shouldn’t even meet in the hallway?” As he reiterated his party’s stance, Barrister Gohar joked, “We have already said there should be consensus against terrorism.”
Echoing the notion, Asif continued, “[Unity] is absolutely necessary.”
