In order to promote Plan International UK, a children’s charity that advocates for girls’ rights globally, one of her newest patronages, Duchess Sophie, is now on a covert trip to the United States.
The charity posted pictures of Sophie along with a poignant message on its social media accounts.
“We’re proud to have our Royal Patron, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh, meet with young women advocates from around the world in New York, reinforcing her commitment to championing girls’ rights,” the statement read, along with pictures of Sophie.
The event this week draws attention to the difficult realities that girls face in their communities, such as child marriage, conflict, and climate change.
