On Saturday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced the sentencing of those responsible for destroying military installations nationwide, marking a significant milestone in the May 9 riots story.
According to a statement from the military’s media wing, 25 of the accused were punished by the Field General Court Martial (FGCM) for their roles in rioting that broke out following the arrest of Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in a fraud case last year.
The attacks targeted key sites, including the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, the Corps Commander’s House in Lahore, also called Jinnah House, and others. The government strongly condemned the attacks and promised to take strict measures against the rioters.
