Prostate cancer claimed the life of well-known civil rights activist and Martin Luther King Jr.’s youngest son, Dexter Scott King, on Monday in Malibu, California, according to the King Center.
He passed away quietly at home, according to his wife, who also claimed that “he gave it everything and battled this terrible disease until the end.”
“As with all the challenges in his life, he faced this hurdle with bravery and might,” she continued.
Born in Atlanta on January 30, 1961, Dexter Scott King was named for his father’s first pastorate, Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama.
