Manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Portugal central defender Ruben Dias will be sidelined for “three or four weeks” due to a muscular problem, dealing Manchester City yet another setback.
Dias will miss the whole holiday schedule and maybe the FA Cup third-round match against Salford on January 11 after sustaining the injury during Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United.
It will also be difficult for the 27-year-old to be healthy for City’s pivotal Champions League trip to Paris St-Germain on January 22.
This season, Dias has already missed seven games due to a calf injury, joining a defensive injury list that has also seen Rodri, the Ballon d’Or winner, John Stones, Nathan Ake, and Kyle Walker all sidelined at various stages.
