Due primarily to significant fuel allowances permitted by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) through a 20 percent rise in base tariff from July 1 through June 30, 2025, FCAs will remain negative for the third consecutive month. In September, domestic fuel sources accounted for about 74% of the entire power supply, with over half of those sources providing electricity at no cost.
The regulator had a public hearing last month regarding a negative FCA adjustment of 57 paise per unit for August consumption; however, it has been nearly a month since the tariff cut was announced. The September 70 paise alleviation is anticipated to be roughly the same, though, as the FCA is only for a single month (70-75 paise per unit).
