At Disneyland in Los Angeles, some 1,700 actors and assistance work to bring well-known figures to life.
Disney has been under fire for allegedly not paying its employees a livable salary, even though many of them have to travel great distances and pay outrageous housing prices.
Base pay for parade participants and character actors is $24.15 (£19) per hour, which is an increase from $20 (£15.75) prior to January.
Earlier in May, when the idea was announced, the president of the Actors’ Equity Association, which would represent the group, referred to the employees as the “front lines” of the Disneyland visitor experience.
Disneyland is said to be the place where dreams come true.
The association and cast members will talk about pay, benefits, working conditions, job security, and health and safety improvements.
She continued by saying that they will next meet with officials of Walt Disney to discuss negotiating worker priorities into a contract.
Campaigning for a union, parade employees expressed their enthusiasm for creating a beautiful experience at Disneyland, but expressed fear when required to continue hugging guests in the midst of the pandemic.
They said that their unpredictable schedules and intricate outfits also cause them harm.
