Two judges of the top court stated in their dissenting note on Saturday that relief cannot be granted to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) since the opposition party “was not before the Court nor tried to become a party before the ECP” in response to questions about the majority ruling in the reserved seats case.
Amin-Ud-Din Khan and Naeem Akhtar Afghan, the two Supreme Court judges, released a 29-page dissenting comment in response to the majority ruling that was published on July 12 by the full bench of the court, presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa.
The PTI was granted reserved seats for women and minorities in the assembly by a majority 8:5 landmark verdict, which overturned the rulings of the Peshawar High Court (PHC).
