WASHINGTON: According to police on Wednesday, an American dog owner was shot by his pet after it leaped on his bed and activated a loaded firearm.
The man from Memphis, Tennessee, was shot early on Monday morning when he was sleeping next to his female partner. He managed to flee with a minor wound to his left thigh that required medical attention.
According to a police incident report, the dog, Oreo, a year-old pit bull, “got his paw stuck in the trigger guard and ended up hitting the trigger.”
It noted the incident as “accidental injury” without mentioning the kind of weapon that was fired.
Although there is a lot of gun violence in the US, there aren’t many instances of animals shooting people.
