Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu’s term ended earlier this month, and the US State Department has confirmed his resignation.
On its official website, the department discreetly confirmed that Lu’s term ended on January 17, 2025. Since his September 15, 2021, appointment, he had served as head of the bureau in charge of monitoring U.S. ties with Pakistan.
During his term, Lu was involved in a significant controversy because of claims made by Imran Khan, the former prime minister and founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), that the US ambassador was involved in his dismissal.
