The body of Douglas Macarthur, 59, was found on the A85 near Pennyfuir, Argyll and Bute at roughly 1.55 am on Thursday. Not long before, in George Street, Oban, he was hit by an HGV.
Mr Macarthur, who was born in Oban, was better known as Doc.
The family of Mr. Macarthur issued the following statement through Police Scotland: “The family is positively impacted by all the condolences and personal tributes to their much-loved brother and uncle.
Clearly, Doc was well-liked in the neighborhood and beyond, where people are grieving together.
