In a fierce contest to succeed Douglas Ross, the MSP defeated rivals Meghan Gallacher and Murdo Fraser.
With 2,565 votes and a 60% turnout, Mr. Findlay prevailed. With 1,187 votes, Mr. Fraser came in second, and Ms. Gallacher received 403 votes to take third place.
The declaration is made in advance of the UK Conservative Party’s announcement of Rishi Sunak’s replacement on November 2.
After winning, Mr. Findlay declared that he “greatly” appreciated and valued Ms. Gallacher and Mr. Fraser.
“Everyone in our party needs to now work together as a single, cohesive team,” he continued.
“Let’s get to work today, immediately, rebuilding the public’s trust. And I would like to personally convey a message to him.
Mr. Findlay is the party’s representative on justice at Holyrood and has served as the MSP for West Scotland since 2021.
He has been a journalist for News, Sunday Mail, and Scottish Sun.
His inquiry into Margaret Fleming’s disappearance was essential in the prosecution of her murderers.
Author of books about gangland violence, Mr. Findlay was attacked with acid in 2015 when a perpetrator showed up on his porch dressed as a postman.
