Oleh Syniehubov, the regional governor, claimed at least five Russian drones struck the northeastern city late Thursday.
Mayor Ihor Terekhov stated the city’s Osnovyanskyi area was attacked, resulting in a fire.
It is unclear whether there were any casualties.
Fabrice Deprez, a journalist reporting from Ukraine, told news that he had “lost count of the number of explosions shaking Kharkiv right now – a dozen or more in the past hour”.
Suspilne, a national station, said that an air raid alarm lasted more than 16 and a half hours, the longest since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
Residents were encouraged to remain in shelters.
