Tuesday saw more than 120mm (4.7 inches) of rain, which is the country’s average annual rainfall in the desert.
It was previously reported that poor weather caused a 25-minute halt to airport operations. During the day, at least 21 outward and 24 inbound flights were canceled, and three planes were rerouted to alternate airports.
In its most recent announcement, the airport stated that departure flights were still operating in spite of the inconvenience.
Arriving aircraft would be redirected, the airport announced, until the weather clears up.
The nearest “available airports” will be the destination of the flights, according to an airport representative cited by News.
“The airport is working hard with its response teams and service partners to restore normal operations and minimise inconvenience to our customers,” stated a spokeswoman.
