ISLAMABAD: In an intriguing development, Shahid Hussain Khawaja, a co-accused in the Rs3.20 billion sales tax fraud case, was granted bail by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday against a meager Rs100 surety bond.
The criminal investigation by the tax department was deemed an abuse of power by the court.
IHC Justice Babar Sattar instructed Rashid Mahmood Langrial, the chairman of the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR), to get a copy of the court’s ruling.
