Hugo Auradou, 20, and Oscar Jegou, 21, were taken into custody in Buenos Aires on Monday and will be taken to Mendoza.
According to Rafael Cuneo Libarona, the players’ attorney, they refuted the accusation.
France is now touring the continent.
Following their 28-13 Test victory over Argentina on Saturday, in which the two players made their debuts for their country, the France team remained in Mendoza.
Florian Grill, head of the French Rugby Federation, stated, “If the facts are proven, they are extremely serious.”
We’ll hold off on sharing the investigation’s findings.
A commission was going to Buenos Aires to conduct “investigative actions,” according to Martin Ahumada, a spokesman for the Mendoza prosecutor’s office, and “if the results match the victim’s testimony, the indictment will be issued.”
“If the investigation establishes the alleged facts, they constitute an unspeakable atrocity,” stated Amelie Oudea-Castera, the French minister of sports.
Oudea-Castera claimed to be in communication with both the French embassy situated in Argentina and the federation.
Auradou, a lock for Pau, and Jegou, a back row player for French club La Rochelle, were both on the French squad that won the 2023 Under-20 World Championship.
